Give a man wealth, he might squander it. But give him education and it will not only enrich him education and it will also make him more conscious forwards his duties to the society

In essence, education leads to knowledge; in turn knowledge leads to achievement and achievement leads to fulfillment.Each letter of the word ‘EDUCATION’ enshrines an ideal, a value. These are respectively, Enlightenment, Dedication, Understanding, Character, Action, Thought, Integrity, Originally and Nationhood. We, at Gujarat Law Society, endeavour to realize these lofty ideals.

More than seven decades back, a few like minded visionaries who recognized the value of advanced education came together and established Gujarat Law Society (G.L.S.) - the first institute of its kind in the region which later became the state of Gujarat. As its name indicates, initially the Society was established with the specific purpose of imparting legal training.

Such leading luminaries as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Shri Ganesh Mavlankar and Sheth Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai were the founding fathers and the guiding vision behind the Society. Over the years, the Society has had the benefit of the vast experience and sterling service of such pillars of modern Gujarat as Shri Chimanlal Setlvad, Shri H.V. Divetia, Shri Motilal Setlvad, Hon’ble Mr. Justice J.C. Shah, Hon’ble Mr. Justice P.N. Bhagwati, Shri K.R. Sant, Shri I.M. Nanavati, Shri H.H. Bhagwati, Shri J.M. Thakore and Shri Sudhir Nanavati, to name a few. These exalted and illustrious personalities have put the Society on a sound footing by their dynamism, sagacity and pragmatic approach.

The financial fabric of the Society was strengthened by munificent donations given by philanthropic personalities like Shri Charandas Haridas, Shri Mahendra Kanaiyalal, Shri I.M. Nanavati, Shri C.U. Shah, Shri Deepak Navnitalal, Dr. Pramod Mehta.

Today, our Society aptly ranks among the premier educational bodies in the Country.
